Della Eleanor Hollabaugh

Della E. Kern, 68, of 1014 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 12, 2006, after a courageous 11 year battle with breast cancer. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 28 years, George J. Kern and her family and friends. Born in Kistler October 2, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Hollabaugh and Mildred A. McCartney Hollabaugh. She worked for 24 years providing daycare in her home. A longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lancaster, she served on church council and as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She was a member of the Travelers Protective Association, Post D Lancaster, for 13 years, serving on the Board of Directors. Della enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, George, she is survived by her children: Mitchell C., husband of Wanda Burkholder, Adamstown; Shelley D., wife of Stephen Harnish, Surfside Beach, SC; George E. Ted Burkholder, partner of Ellen Harsh, Lancaster; Cheryl A., wife of David Clayton, Millersville, and George J., husband of Stephanie Kern, Flower Mound, TX; 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 brothers: Theodore Ted, husband of Vi Hollabaugh, Fort Worth, TX; L. W. Chuck Hollabaugh and friend Betsy Osani, Fort Myers, FL; and Larry E., husband of Jean Hollabaugh, Glen Rock. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral from Redeemer Lutheran Church, 500 Pearl Street, Lancaster, PA on Friday, June 16 at 3:00 P.M. with the Rev. David D. Kreider officiating. Friends may call at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange Street, Lancaster, on Thursday, June 15 from 7-9:00 P.M. and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service.
